Bachelor
The Institute of Biogeochemistry and Pollutant Dynamics contributes courses to the Basic Studies (1st and 2nd academic year) and the Specialization in Biogeochemistry (3rd academic year) for the Bachelor in Environmental Sciences.
The Biogeochemistry Specialization focuses on the complex interplay of physical, chemical and biological processes that influences the behaviour of substances in the environment as well as the consequences for humans and the environment. The learning outcomes include an understanding of processes and systems, the ability to read scientific studies critically, and methodological skills in the laboratory and the field. The major Biogeochemistry is an ideal preparation for the Major in Biogeochemistry and Pollutant Dynamics.
You should definitely consider the Specialization in Biogeochemistry if you bring the following:
- Knowledge of environmental systems (soils, water, atmosphere)
- Basic knowledge of and interest in chemistry, microbiology and physics
- Interest in material cycles and the behaviour of substances in the environment
