Research field
I am interested in the fate of chemical substances in the atmosphere, particularly in the field of aerosol chemistry. Chemical reactions have an influence on the physicochemical properties of aerosols and are therefore important for the effect of aerosols on man and nature.
We are currently working on an experimental setup, which allows the analysis of the chemical composition of aged aerosol particles. In our laboratory, we levitate aerosol particles in an electrodynamic balance where they undergo ageing under well-controlled conditions. The subsequent analysis of these particles with mass spectrometry allows to gain insight in important aspects of aerosol chemistry.
